BRAND FEATURE: SKAGERAK
Earlier this year we introduced Goods by Norden, a curated selection of pieces from our friends and brands we love. As longtime personal fans of the brand, we're excited and proud to include Skagerak on our site and share their story alongside ours. Skagerak is a family-owned, Danish design company owned by Jesper and Vibeke Panduro. Founded in 1976 and based in Aalborg, Denmark, Skagerak is a certified B-corp that mixes innovative ideas with longstanding Nordic virtues and concepts to craft long-lasting products.
Skagerak is known for their timeless, yet forward thinking, designs — and in turn, their work with a variety of emerging and established outside artists and designers. Their pieces are thoughtfully made through a global supply-chain and responsible production.
“At Skagerak, we set the bar high to develop products made with sincere craftsmanship, environmental considerations and a universal aesthetic. We create furniture that is built to be used and to survive in the long run, so they patinate and accumulate stories. In our world, stories and relations are the most important thing, and we strive to make furniture that makes it easy and launch new concepts that can make it a reality. And that is something I am proud of," says CEO and Skagerak owner Jesper Panduro.
Skagerak's commitment to sustainability runs deep in the company's ethos - directing the materials, production and the way they treat partners and employees. Within the furniture industry, Skagerak is setting a high standard and innovating new ways to improve production and sourcing methods, but also accessibility to ethically made home goods.
Skagerak recently introduced a new initiative, Reclassic, which encourages the buying and reselling of used Skagerak pieces at the Skagerak Store in Copenhagen. Rather than being discarded or stored away, 'Reclassic' prolongs the furniture's life in a home and circulates gently used pieces for generations.
We love the timeless styles designed by Skagerak and their collective of designers and artists. We've selected a variety of pieces to share on our site, that we keep in our home (or would love to). If you have questions regarding Skagerak's furniture, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org — we'd be happy to help!
